At my grandmas house in Bahri, there used to be a guava tree in the courtyard that as a kid I used to love picking from. I came back to visit only to find that the tree had been removed.
With the recent war, that house like thousands of others, has been looted and vandalised and who knows what it looks like now. I pray for the day that all the displaced Sudanese people are able to return to their homes. So much loss, suffering and trauma but I pray that there will be a Sudan we can return to. A Sudan that can grow and bloom again.
A guava tree that blooms again.
